Did you know that the Dorothy Molter Museum has two satellite exhibits in Ely? Three Stars of the North is located at the Ely-Winton Historical Museum and a Dorothy Molter Kiosk is located at the USFS Kawishiwi Ranger Station – both here in Ely!
The Ely-Winton Historical Society operates a small history museum located inside the Fine Arts Theater Lobby at Vermilion Community College. For a VERY small admission, you can learn about human settlement in northeastern Minnesota from indigenous people thousands of years ago to current issues surrounding the area. Learn more.
The U.S. Forest Service is responsible for managing the Superior National Forest all around us in Ely, which encompasses the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. A beautiful building houses a thoughtful display on the ecology, management and history of the Forest, along with the permit station and regional offices. This exhibit is free to explore! Learn more.
