Have you ever wanted to learn how to make your own homemade root beer just like Dorothy Molter, the Root Beer Lady of Knife Lake? Here is a chance to try with a little guidance from the Dorothy Molter Museum during the Ely Winter Festival!
Dorothy sold her famous root beer to thousands of visitors each year at her island home in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness from the early 1950s through 1986. This class will meet at the Dorothy Molter Museum for a private tour of her historic home to learn more about the story behind her root beer business. Then, make 32 oz. of your own root beer in a custom growler to take home and enjoy!
This February 6, 6-8pm class is in partnership with the Ely Folk School and registrations must be made online here. The course fee is $30 and includes the private tour and all materials needed to make 32oz of delicious, home brew root beer.
This class is appropriate for ages 8 and up but youth under 16 must be accompanied by a paid adult. However, if you can’t make it here for this class, we can arrange one just for you upon request for groups of 4 to 10!
