Did you know that the Dorothy Molter Museum has two satellite exhibits in Ely? Three Stars of the North is located at the Ely-Winton Historical Museum and a Dorothy Molter Kiosk is located at the USFS Kawishiwi Ranger Station – both here in Ely!

Three-Stars-of-the-North-optThe Ely-Winton Historical Society operates a small history museum located inside the Fine Arts Theater Lobby at Vermilion Community College. For a VERY small admission, you can learn about human settlement in northeastern Minnesota from indigenous people thousands of years ago to current issues surrounding the area. Learn more.

IMG_2616The U.S. Forest Service is responsible for managing the Superior National Forest all around us in Ely, which encompasses the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. A beautiful building houses a thoughtful display on the ecology, management and history of the Forest, along with the permit station and regional offices. This exhibit is free to explore!
